They have already selected with the assistance of village Executive officer VEO from villages in which they live. The Village Executive Officers know better the profiles of each orphan. After selection they requested to choose the type of trade skills that they are interested in and are capable of engaging in basing on their preferences, they have enrolled with tailoring vocational in Training Centre in Mlandizi to undertake residential training for nine months.
Up on successful completion of training they will be provided with startup kits to enable them run enterprises using the gained skills.
Many orphans who are out of school totally depend on relatives and do not have any skills that they could engage themselves to earn income to support them. Moreover, some of the relatives on whom they depend have large families and their incomes are generally low. As a result, the orphans are sidelined, discriminated against by the families of the relatives and are stigmatized. Being unemployment, they face the risk of taking drugs, sexually abused, having poor nutritional status, falling sick frequently and eventually dying prematurely from hunger lack of food and or HIV and AIDS.
